Grammar - Aquaponic vs AquaponicS

When do you use the term “AquapoNIC” with no S and when do you use the term “AquaponicS” - with an S?

I tried to set a standard to only use AquapoNIC - no S - when specifically describing a system of fish and plants.

I usually don’t describe farmers as AquapoNIC, because they themselves aren’t recirculating systems of fish and plants, instead they are farmers practicing the art of aquaponics, so they are “aquaponics farmers”.

Though sometimes saying “aquaponic farmers” feels more correct?
